2nd to 3rd grinding

Can someone please help me with this. For some reason now, my car grinds into 3rd gear when I punch it. I even tried shifting slowly into gear at high rpms, and it still grinds. Does anyone anyone whats wrong? I have an idea, but I dont ant to throw you guys off. BTW, the only mods I have to my transmission are: my B&M pro edge shifter (with stabilizar), and a JUN ultra light flywheel

I know of at least 2 people with Civics having the same problem, it eventually will start grinding every time you put it into gear no matter what rpm your at, and worse it moves to 4th gear also. It is the synchronizer and our local Honda dealer says that 3rd and 4th are linked somehow so to replace the faulty part you must have both gears rebuilt. The cheapest quote we've had so far to repair it is approx. $1500.00. good luck

Burnished or damaged synchronizers on third gear... if it is not severly scarred, it may work its way out. Otherwise, a new synchro set will have to be installed.

I dunno. I never shift hard and I only have 13500 miles on my car, and its only 2 years old. I know the added stress on the trans might hurt. But to cause this annoying griding is crazy! And it just started doing this out of the blue.

Same thing recently happened in my civic. I was racing and I misshifted 3rd gear. Now it grinds going into 3rd at high rpms. I'm going to try changing the tranny fluid....hopefully that'll help if not I'll have to get it fixed

My buddy JUST rebuilt my tranny and did a solid job. If you're in the NorCal area, I can see how much he'll charge to have it fixed or rebuilt.
